I used the dry blade to process wet ingredients and the stuff is not as smooth as when I blend using the wet blade (a large piece of my peach still remained in the container even after a minute). So depending how important you need the consistency and appearance of your finished wet product (smoothie or soup), then use the wet blade for wet processing and the dry blade for dry processing. Mine didn't come with a dry blade container so I purchased one separately more recently. There's no question that it does a great job with coffee and whole grains, but the regular container works fine for some of those things, too.
